The Spring Lake Climate Station is a joint project of Texas Stream Team, River Systems Institute, and the Edwards Aquifer Research and Data Center at Texas State University-San Marcos. The program includes a meteorological tower as well as a continuous water quality monitoring site. The Spring Lake Climate Station Program aims to:

1) Study climate and water quality relationships locally and regionally and how these relationships tie into the global climate patterns; 2) Provide educational opportunities to almost 100,000 people who visit the Aquarena Center each year; and 3) Provide educational materials and data via the Internet.

Continuous Water Quality Monitoring Site

TROLL - Unparalleled Accuracy

The Texas Stream Team would like to thank CC Lynch Associates and In-Situ^® Inc. for their generous donation of the TROLL^® 9500 water quality instrument valued at $10,000. The Texas Stream Team’s Spring Lake Climate Station Program is using the TROLL 9500 instrument to conduct long-term water quality monitoring of Spring Lake in San Marcos, Texas. The water quality probe was deployed in early June 2008. The quality data are available for download below.

Meteorological Tower

To the meterological tower collects data every 15 minutes for wind speed and direction, air and water temperature, relative humidity, net radiation, soil moisture, and precipitation. Data is available for download below.
