Earning TEEAC Credit

By participating in meetings or training sessions offered by Texas Stream Team, teachers may receive credits for continuing professional education through the Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee (TEEAC).

By completing all three phases of the Texas Steam TeamCertified Water Quality Monitoring (CWQM) training, teachers will receive 9 hours of professional development credit.  Teachers attending other Texas Stream Team meetings or workshops, such as the annual Meeting of the Monitors or regional meetings, may also receive SBEC endorsed continuing professional education credits.  Typically, these are single day meetings that provide 8 hours of credit.

Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee (TEEAC) -Originally established by the Texas Legislature to assist and advise the Commissioner of Education on environmental education, TEEAC offers a Certificate of Recognition to encourage teachers to learn more about the environment.  In order to receive the Certificate of Recognition, TEEAC requires teachers to complete 45 hours of TEEAC endorsed instruction relating to environmental education.

Nine Hours: Teachers can receive 9 hours of TEEAC credit by attending all three phases of the Texas Stream Team CWQM training.  Additionally, teachers can receive 8 hours of credit for each Texas Watch meeting or workshop attended.  After having completed 45 hours of TEEAC endorsed instruction -including Texas Stream Team training and/or meetings -TEEAC will send the teacher an Environmental Education Certificate.  TEEAC will also send a letter of achievement to the teacher's principal and superintendent.

Eight Hours: To receive 8 hours of TEEAC credit for participation in a Texas Stream Team meeting or workshop, simply request a credit sticker during or after the meeting.  To receive 9 hours of TEEAC credit for the CWQM training, a teacher must attend all three phases of training, complete a Volunteer Monitor Training Packet, and request a credit sticker.  On receipt of the completed training packet from the training partner, Texas Stream Team will mail the TEEAC credit sticker along with the CWQM Certificate directly to the address on the packet.

Already completed the training and would like credit? If you are a teacher who has already completed the CWQM training and would like to receive TEEAC credit, send us a letter that includes your name, full mailing address, phone number, and a copy of your certificate OR the location and approximate date at which you received your certification.  Upon verification of your training, Texas Stream Teamstaff will send you a TEEAC sticker for the nine-hour credit.  Please mail your request to:
