WELCOME TO:
TEXAS STREAM TEAM, "Caring For Our Waters"
(Formerly Texas Watch)

Texas Watch is changing its name to Texas Stream Team, "Caring For Our Waters".  The new program logo appears to the right.  The River Systems Institute and the Texas Watch Program, in coordination with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Environmental Protection Agency Region 6, will change the name and identity of the Texas Watch Program in order to facilitate a growing need for the program to work with private landowners, members of the agricultural community, and watershed stakeholders in general.  In addition, we have discovered that there are several organizations in Texas called Texas Watch, including at least one the name of which is copyrighted.  We anticipate that our new name, Texas Stream Team, will strengthen our relationship with stakeholders in watersheds across the state and facilitate our collective efforts to preserve and protect our water resources.

Texas Stream Team is a network of trained volunteers and supportive partners working together to gather information about the natural resources of Texas and to ensure the information is available to all Texans.  Established in 1991, Texas Watch (Texas Stream Team effective Feb. 1, 2008) is administered through a cooperative partnership between Texas State university, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  Currently, over 1,400 Texas Stream Team volunteers collect water quality data on lakes, rivers, streams, wetlands, bays, bayous, and estuaries in Texas.

LOCATION

Texas Stream Team is currently housed in The Landing Building at Aquarena Center, located on beautiful Spring Lake in San Marcos, Texas. Our program is affiliated with River Systems Institute - Texas State University-San Marcos.
